Think about this for a minute; you go to a store and buy yourself a beautiful watch. Do you go home and put it away because you’re thinking about wearing it in the future? NO! You grab that watch and show it off the first opportunity you get. Well that’s what the Miami Dolphins are planning to do with Ryan Tannehill. The first quarterback we draft in the first round since Dan Marino and they store him with the excuse that he’s our quarterback of the future. NO!
Nothing but Impressive
Ryan Tannehill has been nothing but impressive during preseason and training camp. He went 14-21 in his first live action this past weekend when the Dolphins played the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ending up with 167 yards and leading our offense to the only touchdown the Dolphins, and more importantly the fans, got to celebrate. It was a bullet down the middle, the result of how comfortable he looked in the pocket. Hey, Marino looked comfortable in the pocket… (wink wink).
Let it Shine
If we’re really looking for playmakers and results, Tannehill’s results were just fine in the first preseason game. Coach Philbin, please put an end to this ‘quarterback of the future’ story that South Florida has been hearing for a while now. The future is now. The kid has all the symptoms of a star. We cannot allow him to get lost in a system that hasn’t had results in years. First-rounders were meant to play, not sit by the sideline to watch Matt Moore do what we all know he can do – not enough. Ryan Tannehill is a star and it’s coach Philbin’s responsibility to let the star do what it does best. Let it shine Coach.
