There’s always something at Walk Now for Autism Speaks that catches us by surprise. In the past it’s been examples of relentless hope, of innocence and of happiness. This time, it was the realization that although everyone attending was there in support of a greater cause, they were really there in support of one person. Sons, daughters, nieces, nephews or grandchildren – it was about the individual. The presence of the global charity that has exponentially increased its reach and effort each year was almost a coincidence. These families rallied behind one child, identifying themselves through their colors and signs like singing, dancing tribes. But that’s the beauty of it all. By supporting one, they really do support the larger cause of raising awareness of autism. Here’s to another hugely successful Walk Now for Autism Speaks Miami.
